The best Bedford Site on the net I found so far. Just bought in Switzerland a 79 LHD Bedford Camper, which I think is an original ADVANTURA, original delivered from Bedford in England and fetched there by the first Swiss owner. The car has original 66.000 km on the clock and has absolutely no rust! It was very cheap SFR 500.- or EUR 320.-, which is approx. GBP 215.-. It was sold with the Vauxhall gearbox removed from the car and said that the reverse gear was broken, but the only broken things were the gear lever gaiter bushes so that the reverse could not be engaged! I called Adrian Bailey from the spare part listing site, he will sent the bushes and the old Lady will be on the road again soon. Great deal! as soon as I have some pictures I will put them in the picture gallery.Go on with that side, greetings from Lake Constance ALEX

While I agree with the general opinion of visitors that this is an excellent site to view,I have to say the updates in my own circumstance are poor.It has been a year since I first joined this site and still my entry in skills/knowledge share has not been updated despite emails being sent. The complete text should continue to read-will come in handy one day not motor spares .I have 2 welders,1 arc,1 gasless wire feed, but Im not an expert. My hobby is leather carving so I can make and personalise anything for you.Obviously I would have to charge for this but the rest of the help is offered free.My email address is now graham.west55@ntlworld.com Colin please take note!!!

we found this exccelent site by accident, and never thought for a minute how popular bedford campers of a certain agewould be ,we were totally surprised, and delighted that so many people are keeping these old babies on the road,we are at the moment trying to restore our 1976 bedford c f 250 coachbuilt,it has a 2.3 petrol engine, but we have a 2.3 opal diesel just waiting to go in,there is quite a bit of work to be done , but we are enjoing the challenge.we will check in from time to time ,see how things are going, good luck to all ,happy trails.

Great site! Ive owned a 1981 2.3 ltr CF autosleeper coachbuilt for 6 years now. Never seen another like it on the road. Its still going strong. Recently re-upholstered inside for a face lift, mechanics and running gear are fine, great pulling power too. I really like the rear door, useful for moving stuff, stowing bikes etc, as well as the fact that i can still park in a standard bay. Keep up the good work, would be great to see a dedicated Bedfords only rally sometime, sandy

Hi Bedforders. Just a quick note to say that i enjoyed looking through your site which i dare admit i stumbled accross whilst looking for a cf2 minibus or van for sale. I normaly only get to see some of your fleet at Billing which i attend every year and always rumage amongst your fine selection of vehicles with delite. I currently own a vauxhall sportshatch which has been under resto for some time with very little progretion. Due to an addition in career it might be more fesable for me to move it on for something more usable. Look forewards to seing your stand next year or hearing from you soon. Andrew

My much beloved old CF250 Adventurer has rolled me around the country for many a year now, nothing will part me from this trusty steed. Its about time folks got into bedfords rather than miniscule veedubs, I did the veedub bit in the 60s and seventys, now Ive grown up Bedfords are ace. I would love to see a spares page, as there must be loadsa people like me desperate for bits. So come on lets see the page turn into an elite bedford page, give the veedubbers a run for thier money. What about a rally exclusive to Bedfords?.

Great Site. I have just bought a CF250 Auto Sleeper. This is my fourth CF the others were a 280 panel Van a 350 panel van and a 350 dropside tipper all petrol, all workhorses in the building trade. Previous to that I had a CA minibus turned into a van. Love Bedfords always gave good service and economical. Still have 350 dropside even though I am no longer building, still in good nick hopefully will go on to preservation, last worked in 1999.

I used to drive these things as Ambulances; in the eighties that is. They kept blowing up (2.3 Auto Petrol) so we received a new batch of 3.3 Petrol engined C.F'S. Excellent vehicles as regards speed, petrol hungry (12mpg) and once at speed difficult to stop! As a consequence, they were withdrawn from service. We then swapped to DARE I say it Transit. Which at the time and indeed presently provides a far superior vehicle. I did like the C.F DIESEL THOUGH, IT WAS PLEASURABLE TO DRIVE. BEAT LDV ANY DAY, FOR DRIVER POSITION, COMFORT AND RELIABILITY.
Sorry to be negative. Great web site. It's good to see so many people passionate about these vehicles, because I've so many stories to tell about them. No, not all bad either! Good luck and happy motoring.

I have a 1975 CF Bedford motorhome petrol/gas converted with a Holden 203 V8 motor two years ago. It's well equiped with A/C,toilet, shower etc for a powered site. Have improved the cooling to cope with Australian temeratures which up north can exceed 45C. Am currently searching for spring cone washers for the twin wheel rims but may have to have them machined specially,in which case I'll make a double cone to reduce work.

I've recently bought a 1984 CF 250 Autosleeper campervan which is in pretty good condition and only needed minor mechanical maintenance work. My problem is with obtaining some touch up paint.
It's a beige colour which I'm informed is probably the factory issue colour
Can anyone help me with obtaining some paint. has anyone any codes or colour references?.
I'd appreciate any help or advice
Many thanks

Hi, I am considering buying a CF1/CF2 and was wondering if anyone had any advice? Does anyone know where I can get hold of one? I would prefer just a standard panel van but would consider a motorhome (CF1 'cause they have bags of character). If I were to get a CF2, does anyone know anything about getting bodykits for them, or are the ones I have seen on various websites all custom built? Cheers, Dan.

Great site. Just bought a Bedford CF 250 1982 Coachbuilt Auto-roamer?? Anyone else got this body on theirs. Wondered if anyone their has put a 5 speed onto their 2.3 petrol - given that it guzzles the petrol a bit?
Been looking for a motorhome for a while and rapidly came to the conclusion that the Bedford conversions give you a lot more space for not to big a body - especially as my other half is 5'10" and we've got a 6 year old and a 2 year old to fit in. The kids love it.

Having a problem locating odd spares bits. I decided to try a search on the net and luckily hit this site. We have an AutoSleeper pop top,and when I was replacing one of the sealed beam units last weekend found that the retaining ring was rusted very badly and disintegrated in my hands so I had to bodge it by using duct tape. I'm very happy to have come across this site.

Hi,
Nice site colin, perhaps you could put a section for custom and modified!
It would seem you have a few followers that are geared for that route.
I have put a couple of pages on my website on fitting the Rover V8 into the CF.
Not writen by me though, all praises to "Street Machine" magazine in the UK.
I will update the site when I get my CF Camper and start to modify her.
Cheers for the site Colin,

just browsing and stumbled accross your site. on second bedford, a converted '75 auto ambulance. bought for 200 smackers, some fresh petrol and brakes balanced and we were off for the south of spain, via andorra!! needless to say the brakes weren't keen (boiled) and the auto box was unhappy (sprang a leak), but all was well...until...on the way back, just as we neared the summit...'POP' went the head gasket. 18 months, a few hundred quid, many swear-words and some greasy knuckles later...it lives! fun for all! j

Well Colin the site seems to be doing ok, since the daughter first made us aware of it back in September. The Van has not moved far in the last few weeks even though it has been tempting, winter and all that. This year a good few miles has gone on the clock, they love to work hard, the CF was made for it. I think we would all agree. Got used to most things on Benvin as the van is known in the family, has anyone got any answers to the flicking petrol gauge needle? To finish all the best for the time of year to all.
