Tractor roll out device.

Hi to all,

I find moving that Ransome tractor out of its shelter to be worked on quite hard to do so I have rigged up a rope and snatch block system watch makes it very easy to move, anyone out there who has done recovery work will know the value of the humble snatch block.

Back to my tractor.

Hi to all,

Got a few jobs done on the old tractor today, a couple of fuel leaks and the battery tray to fit and bolt into place maybe tomorrow I will get started up for the first time this year.
So all the oil levels have been checked as well as checking the magneto output and all seems to be working as it should in-spite of being stored away for about seven months, the paint-work needs to be tidies up a bit so plenty to keep me busy.

Fuel Starved/

Hi to all,

The supply of fuel from the mechanical fuel pump seems to lack enough pressure to keep the engine running at half throttle so I have added an electric SU pump to enhance the fuel pressure.
With those changes done today I will test run it tomorrow and see how it works out ,I hope that will solve the problem.

Conversion

Hi to all,

When you try to convert from a motorcycle type carb and throttle setup to an SU carb from a 1000cc engine so that it can meter out the correct amount of fuel for a 600cc single cylinder four stroke engine it can take a lot of adjusting and changing of jets and needles to get it all to run smoothly.
And that has been the battle I have had to try and work out, but I am getting there slowly.

Faulty shut-off valve.

Hi to all,

The neat fuel injection valve which squirts petrol straight into the cylinder has failed and was allowing fuel to pass all the time, which meant a build up of unburnt fuel going into the sump and contaminating the engine oil.
So much for plastic valves I must find a metal one to replace it to control the fuel start up injection.

Old stale fuel.

Hi to all,

Cleaning out the fuel system laying all winter the fuel has gone stale, hence the refusal to fire and continue running, so refilled with fresh petrol but rain stopped play.
