What's this area for?

I'm sure many of you new members would like to introduce yourselves. Well, this is the place to do it. Feel free to tell us something about yourself but only if you want to!

I'll start the ball rolling :-

My name is Colin Birch. I'm the idiot who started this web site I live in Pontypridd, S.Wales with my wife Jayne and daughter Rachel (6) and son Daniel (3 months), spaniel called Perry and 2 cats, Timmy and Kitty. I've got a 1984 CF with Pioneer Classique coachbuilt body. My favourite place has to be a place called Joffre Lakes in British Columbia, Canada but as it's too expensive to get out there I'll have to make to with my second favourite place, north west Scotland.

another croeso to the bedheads

as gethin says you have found the best site for beddy owners and we're proud of it [and colin who started it and got us all together]

we have meets regularly but our big one is the easter meet which looks like new forest next year.

our club mag [which i write for my sins and i'm always looking for members contributions on anything , doesn't have to be beddy related]
back issues are available and you can put yourself and details on the map [general chat]
you can also sign up as a card carrying member and access all areas [sysop announcements] and aaccess to discounts arranged.
any tech queries you have just try a search and if nothing comes up, post a question in cf questions and one of our "techies" will be along to answer.
anything else you can ask in general chat
above all enjoy

ps no! we're not all welsh

Jacko about me and my cf.

Hi all. New member and to pc. My name is kevin and my nickname is jacko, i'm from wolverhampton. I have ad my cf for about 2 years now. I got her from the scrap yard where i work. [savid from the grave] The engine was shot, the body work is good, but still needs work. As i think some one just tryid to keep it on the road. Its a coachbuilt one, not shuer of the make. When i get a wire from my phone to pc, i will send a picture. I will have to get the kids to help me do this when thay come over . I got an other engine from a cf2 pick up from the yard i'm at, i have rebuilt and is now in the cf but not runing yet, as i need to do the wireing loom, have done a lot of it now. Its just the little jobs that take the longest. I did have a nissan 2.7 td engine to put in, whith it being 29 inches wide, I did not like the ider of choping away at the bulk head. So i think i will stay whit the 2.3 petrol, and later fit an LPG. Thanks to roi for puting me right on this, top man.I ant drove this cf yet and looking forwould to it. I did call her betsey, but some one on here as got that one. Eny new name for her enyone ? She is about 19 feet long, and is a 6 birth, twin whell, and where i live the drive is very small. she just fits on, so work is very hard to do, i am looking for a unit to put her right, but she is tall as well. [well] A bit more about my self, I've ad classic's for a long time. old fords, i have a cortina mk3 gt 2 door k reg. I have a 3.1 litre rs essex to put in. [my cf first] I allso have a granada mk2 estate, at my mates, he is going to put it on a land rover chaise. [my cf first] And i am poting about in my 4 litre jag h reg. Sorry about my speling, hope you all can reed this. Thank you colin for geting this web site going. Hope to get to know you all soon. JACKO

jacko
croeso to the bedheads mate [at last lol]
glad to be of help to you and that's what we are about on here, helping each other.
don't ask me for electrical advice tho unless you want to bonfire your beddy.
plenty others here who will be able to help with that
do not worry about spelling, some can some can't
mind you it does help using firefox as that has oner built in so it will spell check everything even this
[just noticed that firefox comes up with a red line so it doesn't know it's own name lol]
just enjoy
if you make a mistake on the boards I'll sort it for you but basically tech stuff goes in bedford questions and the rest in general unless you find a heading that fits
call if you need any other help
to get the discount on an LPG system you will need to be a card member which will cost you £2 at the mo so contact Bigmac quick before it goes up end of the month

Hi

I've just bought a non running 1971 landcruiser: my first classic vehicle! First job is to replace the window rubbers all round to stop it leaking! Needs plenty of welding in cab, etc. Look forward to meeting members in the near future. Regards, Conor

New Owner

Hello to you all. My partner and I had a moment of madness last weekend and ended up with Bessie, a 1978 CF and now it's true love! She's a little ruff in patches, Bessie that is, not my partner! We are looking forward to doing her up and having some great adventures in her. We live in sunny Eastbourne and look forward to exploring the south coast slowly but surely!:)

HALOOOOO

Hi all..I'm so excited I could burst! Picked up my 1984 CF2 Holdsworth camper on Wednesday evening. Got a ton of work ahead of me but I'm sharing her with my parents so we will split the costs between us.She is in great condition overall, but has been "modernised" so I need to strip her back a bit and do the decent thing, that is, remove the silly plastic hub caps and rub back the awful "white transit van" paint job! I am a real newbie so any help and tips from you enthusiasts out there would be gratefully received. I think there are a few enthusiast in my area (Portsmouth)so get in touch. I really need two rear doors any tips? Cheers chaps, Melissa

Hi everyone

Hi, great to find this community - looked online a decade ago but nothing. Amazed to find so many Welsh (hiya pawb!) and really hoping I can get some help locally.
My family have a bedford 71 freeway which has been off the road for about 10 years now. I want to get it running again but have basically no idea where to start. I know the the exhaust burnt through the water tank a few years before it went off the road, and there are engine issues...like it ran on 4 star and I may need a new one....?
Anyone who can point me in the right direction for getting started? All replies, even if just encouragement, very welcome. Ray

Hi, my name is dianne, I am a 54 year old foster carer, who has just bought a 1984 bedford with a glendale body. As a foster carer, I am always broke, but the plan is to show the kids I foster the british isles. they have never been out of their home town, think scotland is overseas, and want to drive to disney world in florida one weekend!!!;D
My van is beautiful, I love it. Can't get the electrics working, haven't a clue how to get the tap to work without also turning on the shower and drowning the toilet roll, but once I've got that sorted, we'll enjoy the "summer" whatever it is like. If anyone has a spare afternoon, and could give me a hand learning how things work and checking it is all safe for me, I'd really appreciate it.
Dianne

WELL DONE !

I am full of admiration. I wish I could assist you but I still have to work my own electrics out! I can only offer you encouragement. I took my 11 yr old daughter and her little pal away last weekend for the first time in our 1984 Bedford. It wasn't that organised or calm, but every moment was either funny, frustrating or confusing..all in all full of laughs and great memories...Keep working at it I think you will fill their lives with the best memories ever... What more can you ask for ? The guys on here will answer your questions if you need help. Just ask in the right section and you will get a helpful answer.
Keep up the good work, and the posts, to let us know how you're getting on, regards, Melissa
