leaks Hi,I have had some leaks on eather side of the van for sometime, have been looking alover I took the windows out and resealed them.Still leaked. One day Iwas checkins the roof,Inoticed some weldig in the guttering. After I cleaned off the paint I found that the roof had rusted for 2 to 3 ft on eather side .This had been badly tacked and a load of silicon had filled the gaps.Ihave now rewelded this and seajed it with fiber glass and repainted the repair. Now I have no leaks.I will now keep an eye on the gutering .Cheers+Beers,Jim.---------------------- | Wed 30 Oct 2013 @ 21:27 |

Silicone is as effective as pig snot (I`m told)! The only effective sealant I`ve used is Sikaflek 512. stays flexible throughout its life, whereas silicones do not. Allows the normal body flex that happens an all coachbuilts and I have used it on old caravans with great effect. Shall have to buy shares!!! ---------------------- | Sun 10 Nov 2013 @ 14:38 |

cracks Hi guy,If you have any cracks in either Fiberglass or Aloy, you will need to drill a hole at the end of the crack. This is to stop it continuing.Cheers+Beers,Jim.---------------------- | Thu 14 Nov 2013 @ 21:00 |

cheers jim ...i think the leak has always been in the plastic sky light [at least one of them was ] we only really noticed because we put some CC around it and the stuff got wet and leaked in leaving a stain .i dont think we would have found it so easily lol . the other place i was worried about was one part where the top joined the sides but i redid the whole van with this mastick stuff on a roll and touch wood its been great so far but thanks for that bit of info cos id never have known that and im sure theres others that wouldnt either . thats way i love theses places you LEARN something lol.. guy ---------------------- | Thu 14 Nov 2013 @ 21:27 |
